Plain-language notes on what our website and marketing do and do not promise.
No guaranteed results
We build the booking system and we run it. We do not guarantee bookings or revenue. What books depends on your venue, your market, your prices, how many private-event inquiries you already get, and how fast you route those inquiries to your booking page. We do not send you private-event leads. Our marketing for ticketed events doesn’t guarantee ticket sales. An inquiry that never reaches your booking page cannot book.
Earnings and results
Every dollar figure on this website is an illustration. It is not a promise. It is not a projection of your business. It is not an average of client results.
We model these figures from typical private-event values. We do not yet have enough client history to publish typical results. When we have it we will publish it here.
Your result depends on your venue, your market, your prices, the private-event inquiries you already receive, how fast you route those inquiries to your booking page, and how you run the events you book. You may do better than the figures shown. You may do worse. You may book nothing.
The numbers on this website
Here is every headline figure on this website and the assumptions behind it.
$72,000 a year. Two parties a month won back at a $3,000 average is $6,000 a month. Twelve months is $72,000. This is gross event revenue and not profit. It does not subtract food cost, labor, or overhead. We picked round inputs to show the idea. They are not measured client results.
$6,000 a month. The same illustration seen monthly. Two parties at a $3,000 average.
The $3,000 average party. A round figure for one private event at a full-service restaurant. Your own average depends on your rooms, your menu, your party sizes, and your prices.
30 months of fees. One $3,000 party is about 30 times the $99 monthly fee. That compares gross event revenue to our fee. It is not profit.
First event booked by day 30. This is the timeline we work toward and not a guarantee. It assumes you start on time, you show up for the shoot, you approve your prices, and your inquiries reach your booking page. Missing it does not create a refund right. Refunds are set out in the Terms.
The prices. The trial event is $499 and covers one event over 14 days. The build is $2,500 one time. The plan is $99 a month and it renews every month. Stopping the plan takes 30 days’ notice. Your billing runs as normal through that period and your service runs for all of it. A 15% booking fee is built into the guest’s price, on top of your net. Ticketed events from our library carry 15%. Custom events carry 30%. So do library events with our marketing. Prices on this website are current at the time of viewing and may change. What you pay is set by the Terms and by the price shown at checkout.
The Event Profit Calculator
The Event Profit Calculator is in beta. Every result is an estimate for planning only, never a recommended price. Published industry figures stand in for any number you have not entered. Results vary by market, concept, and season. The example quotes on this website use example inputs. They are not client results. A grade and its “Take it” or “Leave it” verdict are not financial, accounting, tax, or legal advice. You set your own prices.
The 7× figure
This website says you are 7× more likely to reach the planner when you answer inside the hour. The planner is the person who decides where the party goes. The 7× comes from research published by Harvard Business Review on how fast businesses respond to online leads. Source: Harvard Business Review, The Short Life of Online Sales Leads, 2011.
That research measured one thing. Businesses that answered an online lead within an hour were about seven times more likely to reach a decision maker and have a real conversation than businesses that answered an hour later. It did not measure closed sales. It did not measure restaurant private events. It did not measure GM SideKick™ clients.
We use it as shorthand for why speed matters. Read it that way. It does not predict your booking rate and we do not claim that it does.
Other statistics we cite
We cite two other figures. 23% of businesses never reply to an inquiry at all. 39% of planners drop a venue that takes two days to answer. The first comes from Harvard Business Review. The second comes from Cvent. Both describe businesses in general. Neither describes your restaurant and neither measures our clients.
Testimonials and endorsements
A testimonial on this website describes one client and their own experience. It is not a typical result and you should not expect the same outcome. Where a testimonial gives a number or a timeline, that is what happened for that client and nothing more.
We do not yet have enough client history to state typical results. Until we do treat every testimonial as one story and not as a forecast. We use testimonials with the client’s permission and we stop using one when it is no longer true.
Karlee Lanthorn, the GM quoted on our home page, received our system free on one of her events in exchange for her feedback. We ran it on that event before we charged other clients. We disclose that next to her quote. Where any endorser receives payment, a discount, a free or reduced-price service, or anything else of value, we disclose it with the testimonial. We do not edit a testimonial in a way that changes what the person meant.
Forward-looking statements
Some statements on this website look forward. Words like will, plan, expect, and on the way describe what we intend to do. They are not facts about today.
Our roadmap can change. Our prices can change. Our features can change. We are not obliged to update a forward-looking statement. What you are owed is set out in the Terms.
Not professional advice
Nothing on our website is legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice. Decisions about your pricing, contracts with guests, deposits, and staffing are yours. Talk to your own advisors where you need to.
What we run and what you run
We run the booking system. You run the event. Depending on what you buy we film your venue, price your packages, publish your booking page, answer inquiries in your voice, and follow up until the guest decides. We also set up and market the ticketed events you choose. The exact scope is set out in the Terms.
You meet the guest. You staff the night. You host the party. Nothing on this website says we operate your restaurant or your events.
Automated software writes the replies in your voice, from the information and prices you approved. When a guest asks for a person we hand the conversation to you. Software can make mistakes. Check what goes out in your name and tell us as soon as a price, a date, or your availability changes.
Answering on your behalf
When we answer inquiries in your name, we rely on the information and prices you approved. You are responsible for honoring the events that get booked and for your agreements with guests.
Pricing
Prices shown on our website are current at the time of viewing and may change. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout when you buy.
Launch pricing
The $2,500 build and the $99 a month you see today are our launch prices. Launch pricing is for our first 10 clients. After that the build is $5,000 and the plan is $199 a month. Those are the crossed-out prices on our price cards, marked “Launch price · 10 spots.”
Clients on launch pricing keep their rate while their plan stays active. A pause or a cancellation ends it. Trial buyers keep launch pricing through the trial and for 7 days after it ends. The booking fee is built into the guest’s price, and we invoice you for it after each event. What you pay for the build and the plan is the price shown at checkout.
Booking fee
Package prices shown to guests include a 15% booking fee that goes to GM SideKick™. Ticketed events from our library carry 15%. Custom events carry 30%. So do library events with our marketing. Your net per event is agreed first. The fee sits on top of it, inside the price the guest pays. We invoice you for it after each event.
Ticketed events, marketing and ads
Our marketing and any paid ads do not guarantee ticket sales. An event can sell few tickets or none. Sales depend on the event and its date and price. They also depend on what else is on that night.
Social platforms decide who sees a post. They can limit the reach of any post or account at any time. Email providers can send our emails to spam. Ad platforms set their own prices and rules.
We never pay for ads. When you want ads, you pay the platform directly. We set them up and run them at no extra fee. Ad results are not guaranteed.
Columbus Event Spaces
Columbus Event Spaces is our free guide to private event spaces in Columbus. A listing doesn’t mean a venue works with us or endorses us. Venues that pay GM SideKick™ to book their events are marked “GM SideKick™ partner.” When a guest books a partner through us, we earn a fee that is built into the guest’s price. That is a material connection, and we label it on every partner card and page. Events we market for partners are paid placements too. We label them in the guide, in our What’s on emails and in our posts.
Scores in the guide are our opinion from dated tests, and no one can buy one. We gather venue facts from public sources, such as venue websites, and from venues that check their pages. Facts can change. Most venue photos come from the venues’ own websites and belong to their owners. The guide has its own Disclaimers.
Images and video
Photos and video on our website may include sample venues, stock imagery, or scenes staged for illustration. They show the style of work we do, not a specific client, unless labeled otherwise. Most venue photos in Columbus Event Spaces come from the venues’ own websites and belong to their owners. We hold the copyright in Room Tour photos and video.
Third-party links and tools
Our website links to other websites and relies on third-party tools, such as our chat, our checkout pages, and Google Maps. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or availability.
